"The Right Prescription for Comfort"
Ah, the dishwasher - it can be your best friend or worst nightmare. We all know the dishwasher can be a huge time saver, especially when cooking a big dinner or entertaining during the holiday season. However, tossing just any item in your dishwasher can cause you a headache, time, and a lot of money if you aren't mindful about what you're putting in.
Below is a list of a few items that should never see the inside of your dishwasher!
Cast Iron and Enameled Pots and Pans: Although many labels on these pots and pans may say 'dishwasher safe', after several washes the enamel will dull and chips can occur. (This includes cast iron colanders, as well!)
Fancy Knives: Good chefs knives aren't cheap, so please, keep them out of our dishwasher! The hot temperature of the water can warp and damage the metal.
Cast-Iron Pans or Skillets: Cast-iron products are usually finished with an oil that prevents the iron from rusting over time. Placing your cast-iron pan collection in your machine will cause the special oil to wash away after time.
Insulated Travel Mugs and Cups: As much as insulated travel mugs come in hand when you're on the go, you will be sorry if you put them in your dishwasher even if they're labeled dishwasher safe. Many of these cups have a space between layers that water can get trapped in, causing a nasty odor that can make your coffee taste bitter.
Cutting Boards: The hot water in your machine can cause various types of cutting boards to warp and crack. This is another item that should be added to your "wash by hand" collection!
Should any of these items cause your dishwasher any trouble, you can always call on your friends here at Mitch Wright Plumbing Heating and Air to come over and check it out twenty four hours a day, seven days a week! If you have any questions about your dishwasher, give us a call! We'd be happy to help. To learn more about us, visit www.mitchwrightair.com.
